Ayodhya And Design Of Sangh Parivar

The ASI team's report of the excavation at the site of demolished Babri masjid has given a new twist in the ?Babri Masjid -Ramjanmabhoomi controversy'. It has been claimed in the report that the ASI team has found the remains of a temple beneath the demolished masjid. There are enough reasons to suspect that this report has been fabricated by the ASI team to suit the interest of their political masters, the Sangh parivar. In the progress reports submitted to the Lucknow High Court during period of excavation, nowhere such evidences were presented by which the existence of a temple could be conclusively proved. Not only that, it was alleged even at that time that some scattered materials were arranged by the ASI team itself to provide evidences of pillars of a temple. Moreover, it was also pointed out at that time that it was unlikely that a grand structure could have existed at the site because even those ?pillars' were not load-bearing ones. Then, all on a sudden, in their final report, the ASI team has concluded that there was a temple before the building of Babri Masjid. What a fine example of scientific investigation! As one observer has noted: ?from Babri Masjid to a ?disputed site' and now the ?undisputed ramjanmasthan', the nomenclature of the demolished monument seems set on a narrowing one-way street?. And to accomplish that the Sangh Parivar is leaving no stones unturned. Distortion and falsification of history, brute force organized and unleashed by systematic and virulent communal propaganda, misuse of governmental machinery and now of an institution like ASI which was once established supposedly for scientific investigation, everything is being done by the Sangh Parivar to achieve its aim.

Earlier, the Sangh Parivar had some serious doubts regarding its' own ability to get the ASI report manufactured in its' favour. So, it resorted to declaring ad infinitum that the ASI report had no bearing with their claim of building temple, as it was a matter of faith. But now the emboldened Sangh Parivar has naturally grabbed this ASI report as clinching evidence in favour of their claim. However, even if we consider the ASI report as correct and a temple existed before the construction of the Babri Masjid, is it a justifiable to demolish the Masjid and build a temple on that site? It is against all the principles of natural justice, civilization, culture and progress to demolish an ancient monument (declared by the ASI itself) and thus to satisfy revenging spirit of Hindu zealots. Moreover, we all know, many religious structures were destroyed and other structures were erected at those places for various reasons in the medieval and ancient periods. Should all those structures be demolished and structures replicating old ones be built now? What will happen to those Hindu temples, which were looted and destroyed by the Hindu Rajas to acquire riches stored in those temples? What will happen to those Buddhist and Jain temples, which were destroyed by the Hindu Rajas? Should we go back to the Middle Ages and recreate the old religious structures? Should we revert back to that period of history when scientific investigations were thwarted by the religious leaders, the people were forced to lead their lives according to the dictates of the religious heads? Or, should we take the path of progress where religion becomes a matter of personal faith of individuals, where there will be no influence of religion on social and political life of the society, where the state will be completely separated from religion? Obviously, the proletariat will prefer the latter path because it will help the proletariat to develop class struggle for their emancipation and eventually proceed towards a classless society. Not only the proletariat, all toiling people and other progressive and democratic people should resist the design of the Sangh Parivar as it is against science, against progress. By ordering the excavation at ?the disputed site', ?the conscience keepers of society', ?the pillars of secular India', the judiciary has strengthened the Sangh Parivar in its mission to revert back Indian Society to the medieval age.

Obviously, the Sangh Parivar has been bolstered by the ASI report. Even the BJP, which was apparently against the ?hard-line' of VHP and RSS has joined the bandwagon and demanded that the Muslims should handover the plot of land to them for building temple. It is clear that the Sangh Parivar has a design to build ?Ramjanmasthan temple? by hook or by crook. The ASI has been manipulated for that reason to supply logic for building temple. A few months ago, Shankaracharya of Kanchi, Jayendra Saraswati initiated a process to persuade the Muslim organizations to give up their claim on the so-called disputed land. Though it was claimed to be a process initiated for amicable settlement, subsequent developments proved that the whole effort had been designed to pressurize and force Muslim organizations to ?donate? the site. After the failure of that initiative, efforts are on to secure judicial sanction for building the temple. The Lucknow High Court's order for excavation and subsequent ASI report will definitely help Sangh Parivar in that direction. Another thing which has also been proved before and also by the latest facts, is that the so-called differences within the Sangh Parivar is nothing but a hoax, which has been carefully designed to hoodwink people. Be it hardliner VHP or moderate Vajpayee's BJP, all the entities of Sangh Parivar are united in its mission to build temple at the site of demolished Babri Masjid.

However, the ulterior design of the Sangh Parivar is something else. As Praveen Togadia of VHP has made it clear that their struggle is ?not just for Rammandir but also for Hindu Pride, supremacy and for a Hindu Rashtra??. We want to saffronise Indian polity.? This Hindu Rashtra means all religious minorities will be relegated to second class citizens who will be forced to live at the mercy of Hindu fanatics, the lower caste Hindus will be deprived of their rights and caste oppression will increase thousand fold, all political rights of working class and other toiling masses will be further curtailed, curbed ? in a word a fascist rule will be clamped on the working class and other oppressed people of India. This fascist rule will help imperialism and big bourgeois-big landlord ruling classes, dependent on imperialism, to increase their exploitation and oppression. The ulterior aim of the Sangh Parivar is not just to build ?Ramjanmabhoomi temple' but also to impose such a fascist rule over India

Now, who can resist the Sangh Parivar? Can the ?secular' partners of BJP in NDA resist the Sangh Parivar? These parties claim that due to their pressure, the BJP has been forced to shelve temple agenda and excluded the issue in their ?common minimum programme'. But, it is very much clear that, despite that ?common minimum programme' of NDA, the BJP and the Sangh Parivar is steadily advancing in its fascist aggression. Is the BJP duping its NDA partners or it will be proper to say that the NDA partners are willingly toeing the line of BJP? The NDA partners are actually using this apparent moderate stance of BJP as plea to convince their following to support this unholy alliance. In this way they are actually paving way for the fascist aggression of the Sangh Parivar. Or, will it be the Congress, which is following a path of mild ?hindutta' and which is also against democracy? Or will it be the so-called left parties who are dreaming to resist the Sangh Parivar by electoral means? None of them are serious in fighting the fascist aggression of the Sangh Parivar.

This fascist aggression can only be resisted by the class struggle of the working class and other tolling masses. Unfortunately, the working class movement is passing through a phase of low ebb. But our task is not to wait for that golden day when there will be a upsurge of workers' movement. Our task is to make preparations so that such an upsurge, when it comes, can be guided in proper direction to combat fascist aggression of the Sangh Parivar. So, in the present situation, all communist organizations should concentrate on the task of organizing the advance section of the proletariat against the danger of fascism. However, there are two tendencies among most of the CR groups, which are hampering this task. Firstly, most of the CR groups view the danger of the Sangh Parivar only or mainly as a danger of communalism due to which they are undermining or ignoring the danger of fascism. Secondly, many believe that by uniting with the so-called left parties this fascist aggression can be resisted. By this they are helping the so-called left parties to maintain the influence of their reformist-revisionist politics over the working class and other toiling masses and keeping the proletariat unprepared in its fight against the fascist aggression of the Sangh Parivar. So, the communist revolutionaries must overcome these two tendencies, which are hampering the task of preparing the advance section of proletariat against the danger of fascism. We do not know how the events will unfold in future. We definitely hope that a huge tide of workers' movement will sweep all reactionary and fascist forces and put them into the dustbin of history. However, we may also have to go through a period of darkness, a period of complete domination of fascist forces led by the Sangh Parivar. But, that will certainly be a temporary phase. Ultimately, the working class struggle will triumph. Whichever possibility history may take, we, the communist revolutionaries, must prepare the advance sections of the proletariat against this grave danger of fascism. We must start this preparation now.
