Burning Gujrat And Modern 'Niro's

On the 28th of February the whole country woke up in the morning with the stuning news of the torching of two coaches of the Ahmedabad bound Sabarmati Express by a mob at Godhra junction in Ahmedabad on the previous morning. The two coaches were reported to be packed with kar sevaks who were returning from Ayodhya. According to the governmental sources 55 pepole were burnt to death in the incident and most of them were said to be kar sevaks. Who were the attackers? Nobody knew. Why was the attack? That also nobody seemed to know. Everything was shrouded in mystery. But instantly chilling whispers started to float around — "Who can kill the kar sevaks? Guess!" There was a sinister atmosphere around the news. VHP immediately called for a Gujarat bandh on the next day.

And on the next day witches' cauldron burst upon Gujarat. On that day all the daily newspapers screamed in banner headlines —"Gujarat burns!" Right from the early dawn armed rampaging mobs were out in the streets of Gujarat to avenge the killings of kar sevaks. People were burnt alive, were murdered, residential complexes, houses and shops were burnt and looted and at the receiving end were the people of the Muslim community. The worst affected was Ahmedabad. Reporting on the incident which took place in the Gulbarg Housing Society in Ahmedabad where inhabitants were mostly Muslims and where a mob entered some houses and butchered and burnt alive more than 40 people, a correspondent of the Times Of India said in the issue of the paper of 1st March —"This is not the usual stray stabbing or hit-and run method that mobs have followed in the past. This was a systematic carnage with a well thought out plan executed to perfection". Is it possible to prepare "a well thought out plan" just within a night? Can any person with an ordinary dose of common sense believe it? Moreover, mobs do not execute well thought out plans. Well thought out plans and there perfect execution need "well thinking" people and well thought out organisations. Who are the people and organisations behind this .of the same behind this "systematic slaughter"? Another correspondent of the same paper reported in the same issue of the paper- "While the official inquiry will establish the extent to which the attack on the Sabarmati express was premeditated, there can be no doubt about the planned nature of the violence directed against Gujarat's Muslims. Property worth crores was burnt down by gangs which went about their business knowing that the police would do nothing."

And the police really did nothing. Not only police, the much-vaunted Indian military force also did nothing. For three continuous days the members of the minority religious community living in Gujarat were butchered, murdered, maimed, their houses and shops burnt and looted and all these went on unhindered before the eyes of the police, the military and all other pompous protectors of the so-called "law and orders"! The police, the military and the government administration of Gujarat in fact acted as accomplishes in this mayhem. And not only the state government of Gujarat, but also Advani's, the Vajpayee's did nothing except declaring their intentions to "deal firmly with the situation". And what their idea of "firm dealing"? Advaniji had chosen this moment to declare his pride for his association with the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement and he is the Central Home Minister! Vajpayeeji is constantly pleading with VHP to suspend their programme for the construction of Ram Temple and we have been made to understand that RSS has "graciously" agreed to mediate between the Prime Minister and VHP! The Prime Minister has ordered that no more kar sevaks will be enter Ayodhya. But what about the kar sevaks who are already there? Of course they will be there and the Yagna will continue! This is their way of "dealing firmly with the situation"! The Prime Minister and the Home Minister did not find any time to visit Gujarat.

The parliamentary 'secular-wallas' are also doing nothing. They have reserved their antics only for the parliament. They are continuing with their usual shouting in the parliament and dutifully taking part in the all party meetings called by the Prime Minister. In the mean time let Gujarat be wiped out, let the central BJP government play pranks with the Indian people! What is that to them? The burning Gujarat is far, far away from the air-conditioned comfort of the parliament!

It is the time for the Indian proletariat to stand up and say an emphatic 'NO' to all these and raise his voice against the Hindu chauvinism who has declared war against the democratic rights of the Indian.
