Kanwar Yatra & the Government Order
Recently the Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand & Madhya Pradesh government ruled by BJP have made an order to display the name of the owner of eateries, on the route of Kanwar Yatra, so that participants can identify whether the owner is Hindu, or Muslim. It is applicable not only for the shaded food shops, but even for the street food vendors. Why this order? The logic of the government is that during the sacred occasion of Kanwar Yatra, the participants maintain that they only eat veg items, not even anything prepared with onions & garlics; and apparently, government claims that it can supposedly be provided only by the Hindu shopkeepers, thus avoiding any disputes regarding identification of the character of the food items (veg, or non-veg), so that law and order can be maintained. The Order is so disastrous that even the Supreme Court has put a Stay on governments? decision.
The Order may appear ridiculous to any logical person, as because asimple list of food items, even with the declaration that onions/garlicshas not been used in the specific item, could have served the purpose ofensuring the sanctity of the food items for the Kanwar Yatries. But theorder is not merely ridiculous, rather the BJP governments of thesestates have a much bigger conspiracy behind this order.
Firstly, the significance of this Order is that the government isidentifying Muslim shop-owners & small traders & separating themfrom the Hindu Kanwariyas with a divisive purpose. For years, KanwarYatries have passed through these states & in many places, even asection of Muslims has provided free fruits, sweets and waters as agesture of religious harmony; not only that, Kanwariyas also usuallyaccept those items willingly. So, there was never any major problemregarding the availability of purely vegetarian food during KanwarYatra. Interestingly, it has been shown in a video published by BBCafter this order (but before the Stay Order from Supreme Court) thateven some Kanwariyas are also astonished with the Order, and they oncamera have stated that they have no problem of buying foods from Muslimshop-owners provided that are purely vegetarian. Not only that, oneKanwariya has even stated on camera that this is a purely politicallymotivated move with a purpose to divide ourselves as Hindus or Muslims.So, the divisive politics of BJP government has once again been revealedeven to the Hindu devotees.
Secondly, by forcing to display the name of the shop-owners, they areattempting to affect & finally stop the business of the Muslimpopulation in these areas. Through this order, governments of thesestates have pushed the Kanwaries to purchase food only from the Hindushop-owners, which will ultimately lead to the closure of the smallMuslim businessmen. BJP governments of different States have on manyoccasions issued such types of orders to disrupt and closure of thesmall Muslim businessman.
So, it can clearly be stated that the conspiracy behind this Order isto divide further the common people as Hindus and Muslims, particularlyidentifying the small Muslim businessmen and small Muslim vendors andthwarting them from their own business throughout the route of KanwarYatra. During the fascist Hitler regime, the houses of the Jews had beenmarked, so that they could be easily identified. The fascist RSS-BJP istrying to copy the same model in this country. The advancedrepresentatives of the working class, toiling masses and thesecular-democratic masses must raise their voices against such a fascistconspiracy.
