Iran-Israel War

Iran-Israel War
A 12-day military conflict between Israel and Iran has come to a halt after a ceasefire was essentially imposed on the two warring parties by US imperialism. On 13 June, Israel launched a large-scale aerial attack on Iran, especially targeting its nuclear facilities and members of the ruling regime. To justify the attack, Israel claimed that Iran was only days away from building nuclear weapons and posed an existential threat to Israel. However, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) chief, Rafael Grossi, recently stated clearly that there is no evidence that Iran is building nuclear weapons. Even the US national intelligence chief, Tulsi Gabbard, testified to the US Congress that Iran was not building any nuclear weapons?though she later backtracked after beingrebuked by Trump. More importantly, Israel actually has nuclear weaponsin its arsenal, and unlike Iran, it never joined the Non-ProliferationTreaty, meaning international organizations have no oversight of itsnuclear program. Possessing nuclear weapons, Israel attacked anothercountry on the pretext that it might develop them. There cannot beanything more sinister or illogical than Israel?s reasoning.

From the very beginning of the attack, it was obvious that Israel hadtaken this step with the full backing of US imperialism. Initially, theUS tried to avoid direct involvement in the war. But as the conflictprogressed and Israel suffered significant losses to Iraniancounterattacks, it became clear that Israel could not destroy Iran?snuclear facilities on its own. So it appealed to the US to use its powerto destroy those facilities. Subsequently, US forces launchedbunker-buster bombs capable of penetrating installations deepunderground.

Suddenly, Trump declared that the two parties had reached a ceasefireand provided a detailed timeline. Statements from both countriesinitially denied any ceasefire and even reported a few missileexchanges. However, both sides later accepted the Trump-declaredceasefire, and Trump had to rebuke Israel publicly for not abiding byhis directive. Events made it clear that Trump?s intention was to brokera ceasefire by conducting bombings on Iran?s nuclear facilities toplacate Israel while sending a warning to Iran of more severeconsequences if it did not comply with US imperialist demands. Theactual damage to Iran?s nuclear ambitions remains unclear. At thismoment, both parties claim victory?but ultimately, it is a victory forUS imperialism, which has once again proven its ability to maintainhegemony over West Asia.

From the beginning, the main objective of Israel and its master, USimperialism, was to impose total hegemony over this oil-rich region.Anyone in the region who dares to challenge US power faces brutalaggression. Iraq, under Saddam Hussein, faced a similar fate: US andother Western forces invaded on the pretext of weapons of massdestruction; Saddam was ousted, tried, and executed?but no WMDs werefound. The Assad regime in Syria was also toppled by forces supported byUS imperialism. Now Iran remains the primary regional power resisting USdominance, forming alliances with China, North Korea, and Russia. Thisalignment is the main reason behind the US?Israel attack on Iran?sregime. However, US imperialists stopped short of a full-scale war todecimate Iran, wary of past experiences and their current economiccondition. Make no mistake?US imperialism will not allow the region toslip from its grasp and will be ready to wage all-out war ifnecessary.

There is no doubt that Iran?s current regime is autocratic andtheocratic, opposing democracy, modernity, and progress. Over its longrule, it has crushed dissent with brutality. Hundreds have been murderedor imprisoned for dissenting opinions. But Israel and the US are noangels either. Israel?s ruling forces, especially the currentgovernment, are Zionist?a form of religious fundamentalism. They havealso crushed dissent at home, and we all know what they have done?andare doing?to Palestinians. Over the past two years, Israeli forces havekilled more than 50,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children.Every day, 60, 70, even 100 unarmed Palestinians waiting in line toreceive aid are shot. Israel condemns the attack on one of its hospitalsby Iranian missiles?but will it acknowledge how many hospitals it hasdestroyed in Gaza?

At one point, Israel and the US seriously considered regime change inIran. They have since postponed this plan. But the question remains: dothe Zionist forces of Israel and US imperialism have any right to changethe regime of a sovereign country, however reactionary or anti-peoplethat regime might be? Regime change must be carried out?and will only belegitimately carried out?by the people of that country themselves.

India?s government position on this war was appalling, thoughpredictable. The RSS has long had ideological affinity with Zionism, which harmonizes with its anti-Muslim ideology. Thus, under BJPleadership, India has built close ties with Israel?s ruling class?notonly ideologically but also in areas such as arms procurement. Duringthe Gaza genocide, India never opposed Israel; it abstained from UNresolutions condemning Israel. Although India has some economicrelations with Iran?oil imports and infrastructure projects like theChabahar port?it effectively sided with Israel during this conflict, revealing the true nature of the current BJP government.

A ceasefire is in place?but how long it will last is unpredictable. It could collapse in months or endure years. Ultimately, US imperialismand its Western allies are determined to control this region for its oilresources, with Israel as their primary instrument. As Germany?schancellor said during this conflict, Israel is doing their ?dirtywork.? Any regime or force challenging Israel and US imperialism willface retaliation. So in the future, Israel will again seek dominance inthe region?and further wars will likely follow.

The global situation is increasingly volatile. Unlike in the 1990s,imperialist and regional military powers are now fragmented intocompetitive factions. Alliances are shifting. We will witness morewars?both in this region and globally?in the future.

The war has devastated the lives of ordinary people in bothcountries. Many have died in missile attacks, and many more are injured.Reports indicate people are fleeing Tehran. In Israel, civilians havedied from Iranian missile strikes. So, like all wars, the brunt of thiswar also has been borne by the common toiling people.

The working classes and common people of both countries mustunderstand that wars like this serve the interests of ruling classes?nottheirs. Workers in both countries should rise up, unite with otherpeople in the region, and overthrow tyrannical, exploitative rulers andtheir imperialist masters?building a just, democratic, exploitation-freeWest Asia. However, the current reality is distant from this ideal. Nogenuine class organizations or struggles exist capable of uniting theworking masses for revolutionary change. Until then, tyranny, exploitation, rivalries, and wars will persist, inflicting furthersuffering on ordinary people. But sooner or later, the situationmust?and will?change. The working classes will overcome present inertia, despondency, and inaction, and, in connection with the reawakening ofthe international working-class movement, will rise up unitedly forrevolutionary struggle.
