The Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016
The recent citizenship amendment bill is another example of the fascist, communal design of BJP-RSS to arouse the opposition and hatred of common Hindu people against the poor Muslim masses, thereby not only increasing and widening the communal divide in the society, but also using them because for the fascist forces it is necessary to usher in a fascist regime in the whole country. Of course for the time being under the opposition of different sections people, especially the Assamese people, though for different reasons, they have been forced to shelve their planning, but it is certain that they will try other methods to reintroduce the bill and shove it down the throat of common, toiling people of India. We must educate the workers against the dangerous consequences of the bill for the class struggle and prepare them for its opposition.
The bill intends " to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955 to make illegal migrants who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, eligible for citizenship." The bill is completely against the basic idea of citizenship of a secular state where citizenship is never granted on the basis of religion. It will effectively make India a theocratic state where one religious community is granted more rights than others. This will be a step towards India becoming a Hindu Rashtra.
The logic being put forward about giving shelter to such people who are under religious persecution rings hollow as because it only speaks of non-Muslim people of neighbouring Muslim majority countries. Neither the minority Muslim sects of the Muslim majority countries like Ahmadiyaa Muslims, nor the Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar or Tamil Hindus of Srilanka have been considered. Actually, the state which is trying to evict poor Rohingya Muslims, branding them as terrorists, is planning to give shelter to only the non-Muslims of the Muslim majority countries, which by itself is sufficient proof of their nefarious design.
For a long time the RSS-BJP combine is spreading the poisonous lie about illegal immigration. On the one hand, they are opening up India for the loot and plunder of multinational companies, due to which millions of workers and peasants are being exploited ruthlessly, and on the other they are talking about the ?invasion? of India by some poor people of neighbouring countries. The BJP-RSS is crying hoarse that the illegal immigrants are encroaching on the jobs and other resources of local people. Firstly, most probably the number of illegal immigrants is not anywhere near the figures given by the BJP-RSS combine. Secondly, it is also highly debatable that the majority of these immigrants are Muslims. The BJP-RSS combine is also propagating a lie that the Muslim immigrants are actually coming to India with communal intentions. It is a common fact that the people from underdeveloped countries migrate to comparatively developed countries for better livelihood. Are not the people from India and Asia migrating to developed countries of Europe and America? Furthermore, if Muslim immigrants are encroaching upon the jobs and other resources of local people, are not Hindu immigrants doing the same thing? But, who are mainly responsible for the unemployment and poverty of local people. These poor people or the Multinational companies and big monopolies of India?
Actually, the issue of illegal immigration is a ploy to divide the common people on the communal basis. The issue of illegal immigration and the citizenship bill based on that campaign is a ploy of the fascist forces to push India further towards a fascist state. We must fight tooth and nail against it.
